1. What is White water rafting?

Rafting in NepalWhite water rafting means cruising down a rushing river in an inflatable rubber raft or white kayak over crashing waves & swirling rapids for the excitement of a lifetime. Nepal’s thundering waters, coming from the glaciers of the mighty Himalayas, provide unmatched thrills for rafting & scenic landscape. A rafting trip is can be the highlight of your stay in the country.

2. Is there any classifications on rivers, days , seasons, class for rafting. Is that important to know?

What ever level of excitement & whatever duration, from 1 day buzz to 12 day major expedition, it is here for you on the rivers of Nepal. The high flows of September, October, November are the product of monsoon & snow-melt. Again, in April & May ( & even early June), Pre-monsoon snow –melt from the Himalayan giants swells the rivers to create a second season of Prime- time white river.

3. What is river grading?

River Grades: White water rivers & the rapids on them have an internationally recognized grading scale.
Grade I  Flat water, no rapids, ‘barely a splash’
Grade II Bubbling current, small roller- coaster rapids
Grade III Needs trained guide- technical and exciting.
Grade IV & V  Seriously big rapids, unforgiving, exhilarating. Required some rafting experience & confidence in water since there are possibilities of raft overturning.
Grade VI Un run able –“don’t got for it”

4. What are the things in your price?

6. How should the personal packing be Prepared?

(a) lighter luggage, (b) quick drying nature clothing (c)synthetic fibers are preferable to cotton.

7. What are the things do I have to bring?

(a) sleeping bag & pad (if you don’t have we help you rent in Kathmandu), (b) light weight pants (c)Cotton underwear, (d) Light weight long sleeved shirt or T-shirt, (e) A fleece style jacket, (f) toiletries (..but no cosmetic you have hardly any time for them), (g) spare glasses or contact lenses ( if u wear them), (h) water bottle

8. Do I have to know the list of rivers wear?

Yes,
(a) river sandals (of the type which do not come off when you swim), (b)Shorts or swimming costume, (c) a sarong for women (long piece of clothes wrapped around your waist, (d) base ball cap & sunglasses, (e) Sunscreen, lip balm

9. If I am not mistaken there are some river expeditions we need to trek before & after the river trip. Is there any thing I should bring along with?

Yes,
(a) A day pack, (b) long sleeved thermal top & bottoms, (c) light weight hiking boots, (d) toilet paper & lighter.

10. Is there anything optional I may bring?

  1. Small binoculars
  2. Camera & film & some spare batteries.
  3. Walkman & tapes
  4. Reading & writing materials
  5. Personal first aid kit.

11. How is a day planned when you are in a rafting trip?

  1. about 8 am breakfast
  2. start rafting at 9 am
  3. leisurely lunch at mid day
  4. get in to the camp around 4 PM & it gives plenty of time to rest & relax
  5. spend about 5 to 6 hours each day.
  6. evening campfire in the river bank &  dinner around 8 PM
  7. go to bed at 10 PM in the bank of dark & wild river

12. DO I have to care/ respect Nepal’s environmental & local culture?

Yes,
you have to abide by them as per the instructions given by your guides before you start your river journey.

13. Are there any risk factors when I am in the trip?


Although we have 100% safety records we can’t deny some risk when you are in the adventure. Company won’t be liable for any loss & damage caused from the situation beyond their control. The price you have paid doesn’t include insurance.

14. How much physically fit do I need to be? Is the knowledge of swimming must?


A reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Swimming  is obviously added advantage for fun but it is not must. Safety jackets & helmets make you float in case you fall in to the river.
