HOLY MT. KAILASH & LAKE MANASAROVAR

KAILASH Claims to be the apex of the Hindu religious axis is also one of the highest mountain in Tibet at 22,022 feet, and lake Manasarovar at 14950 feet is said to be the highest fresh water lake in the world. Certainly a difficult region to reach with variable and extreme weather conditions. The distance Lhasa for example is approximately 2000km.

To Travel for days on this remote plateau with the chance encounters of nomads herding their sheep or yaks is to be transformed in to another way of life, to see and become a part of such a devout pilgrimage as shown by pilgrims around MT. Kailash and lake Manasarovar is to put some aspects of our western way of life into their proper perspective.

Day 01: Drive Kathamndu (1303m) to Kodari trak 8 kms to Zhangmu (2220) o/n at Chusang/Nyalam in camps.
Day 02: Drive from Nyalam to Mala (4000m) via Menhating and Tongla Pass (4990m) overnight in Camps
Day 03: Drive from Mala to Saga (4840m) Crossing the river “Yarling Tsangpo” by ferry.
Day 04: From Saga Drive to Tsongpa (4500m) and break camp in between paryang (4540m) and Tsongpa. Overnight in Camps.
Day 05: Drive on further towards Mayumla pass (4900m) and stay for overnight near the river banks. O/n in camps.
Day 06: Cross the Mayumla Pass and drive to Lake Manasarrovar (4520m). Overnight in camps.
Day 07: Day free for rest. Purificatin Bath in the Holy lake etc. Overnight in camps.
Day 08: Drive to Darchen (4700m) overnight at hotel in Darchen or in Tents.
Day 09: Start Trek around Mt. Kailasy (6656m) overnight in Tents.
Day 10: Trek and cross the Dormala Pass (5600m) Overnight in tents.
Day 11: Trek and return to Darchen. Overnight in Tents.
Day 12: Start return journey by driving up to Samsang. Overnight in Tents.
Day 13: Drive from Samsang to Tsongpa. Overnight in Tents.
Day 14: Drive from form Tsongpa to Saga or Mala. Overnight at tents.
Day 15: Drive from Saga or Mala to Nyalam Overnight at tents
Day 16: Trek 8kms to Kodari and drive to Ktahtmandu.

On the above Programme the roads are not tarred. The average distance covered is 30-40 kms per hours, except while traveling form Saga to Tsongpa, Where one can travel at an average speed of 70-80kms an hour. Most of the roads are bumpy, sandy and one has to cross through three major rivers where there are no bridges. At saga the river has to be crossed by ferry. The climate in Tibet can be extreme varying form 25 degree Celsius. In the day time to –5 to -10 degree Celsius. At night winds blow at a speed of 50-60 kms per hour, and at time more.

Accommodation: Accommodation in 4 men high altitude tents will be provided. While camping we shall be providing all tent, mattresses, sleeping bags and camping equipment required for the trip, except for personal clothing. No laundry services will be available through out the trip.

Food & Beverage: We will be providing vegetarian breakfast and dinner cooked by our Sherpas at campsite who will be taken from Kathmandu. You will be required to bring sufficient supplementary food like biscuits, nuts , pickles, bujias, Swahilis, freeze-dried milk and your favorite tinned products to add variety to the meals. Lunch will be packed o light snacks.

Transportation: Through the journey you will be traveling in Japanese 4 wheel Driven Land Cruisers and no walking is required. A truck will be required for all the luggage and camping gear expect between Zhangmu & Kodari and While doing the Parikarma.( Circumambulation)

Visas and Documentation: You must be in possession of a valid passport. We will obtain you visa for Tibet and will require the following information when making your reservation. Full and as it appears in your passport, Passport number, date of expiry, place of issue, nationality, date of birth and occupation. Two passport size photographs are also required . Additionally, you must allow a minimum of three full working days in Kthamandu for the visa to be physically stamped in your passport. Getting a visa for Tibet on an Indian passport is guaranteed once the tour is booked.

Guide/ Escort: Chinese English speaking guide will escort the group throughout.

Clothing: As temperatures vary greatly between day and night (From 25C to below 0C) it is best to wear layers of Warm Clothing. Besides the normal Clothes, The following items are recommended: down Jacket, down pants, gloves, well worn in walking shoes, Woolen socks, sun hat, a raincoat or a folding umbrella, woolen sweater, and a light jacket with hood. All jewellery is best left at home, as no safe deposit boxes are available in Tibet.

Photography: Still Cameras, home video camera, and 8 mm movie cameras are allowed in to china but special permission is needed for 16mm an 35mm movie cameras.

Insurance: We    recommend that you insure yourself against sickness: emergency rescue, accident, hospitalization, cancellation etc. as we aspect no responsibility for damages or       expenses  which may arise form mishaps to Persons or their belongings during these pilgrimages.
Medicine and Health: Oxygen cylinders with mask clients will have to bring in their own as this item is not easily available in Kathmandu. At present, no Health Certificates or inoculations are required for entry into Tibet. However, because of the rugged mountain terrain, high altitude, and non availability of good medicinal facilities, we require that you be certified by a doctor to be medically fit for high altitude travel. It is advisable to carry the following medicines: insect repellents, band-aids, throat lozenges, anti-biotic ointment, aspirin, sleeping pills and medication for body aches, cold and anti motion sickness, at altitudes it is advisable not to exert oneself and to drink plenty of fluids but little alcohol.

Accessories: We recommend that you bring the following items to make your journey more comfortable. Personal first aid kit, Toilet paper, Flash light with extra batteries, sun glasses, water bottle unbreakable, notebook, pens, pencils, Camera and film and extra batteries for electronic cameras, Binoculars, Duffel bag: Long( 36 inches or so) heavy duty canvas or nylon bag that can be secured with padlock. Water proof it by lining with a thick plastic bag Rain gear: your raincoat should be roomy and have a water proof hood. Foot wears: your hiking boots should have thick soles and high enough to provide adequate ankle support. A spare pair of thongs or sneakers ot wear in camp. Pocket Knife, sewing kit, compass, Altimeter, Drinking cup, Butane cigarette Lighter, towel, Plastic bags ( a few of each size-strong), dust masks, Strong sun cream and chap stick, Money pouch or belts and water purification Tablets.

Special Note:
Altitude Sickness: This is an environmental related condition that can effect anyone who ascends too rapidly to high elevations without acclimatizing properly. Responsiblithy: All arrangements within Tibet are solely at the discretion of the china Tibet touris Bureau (CTTB), a government organization, CTTB reserves the right to change itineraries without advance notice, depending on the weather and road conditions.

Refund:  IF CTTB does not operate a particular, tour a full refund will be made of the tour and such refund will absolve A GLOBAL FLIGHT PLUS  P LTD. any responsibility.
